All about Saliva Drug Test Detection Times

What are Drug Detection Times?

mouth swab testThis concept refers to the span between the point in time in which drug testing will be positive in a person’s hair, urine or saliva and the point in which the person will test clean. All this time period is referred to as drug detection time. These time spans are a very tricky and vary considerably depending on each individual person’s body and overall health. In addition, the type of substance involved causes times to be different, too. Furthermore, time spans may change considerably depending on the type of test. As a general rule, blood tests will automatically reveal the presence of drugs in your system. As far as urine or saliva are concerned, this time may go anywhere from 2 to 8 hours depending on each individual case and drug involved. Finally, Drug hair tests generally take a longer time to give out positive results. As hair takes a longer time to grow, it is natural for substances to show up on a hair test about 5 to 8 days after use. There is a false myth that shaving your head will help conceal hair drug testing, this is false. Samples are generally taken from the closest to the scalp as possible and in some cases the presence of drugs will be there even up to a month after intake has taken place. There is a small percentage of about 5% of false positives. That is, people who test positive for drugs, but have nonetheless, not done drugs at all.

What Aspects can Influence Drug Detection Times?

The most outstanding factors that influence drug detection times are:

  • Consumer Habits: Those people who have been on drugs for over a period of time and have become chronic addicts have greater chances to get caught over those drug users who use single isolated doses every now and then.
  • Body Mass and Metabolism: If you have a larger body mass, detection times tend to lengthen. This is so because increased body mass results in slower metabolism, thus longer detection times.
  • Drug Tolerance: Chronic users develop a certain tolerance over time, causing the substance to be metabolized much more quickly in the body. This results in shorter detection times.
  • Age and Overall Health: Human metabolism tends to slow down with age and during periods of bad health, thus making detection times longer.
  • Exercise Habits: People who exercise regularly have a faster metabolism. Individuals with sedentary habits, on the other hand, store fat cells which are full of drug metabolites.
  • Urine PH: Urine types can change the way drug detection turns out. Higher acidic urine results in a shorter detection time than an alkaline one.

THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS INCORRECT! Hydrocodone and other Opiates most certainly WILL show up in a saliva test, anywhere from 12-72 hours after use depending on all the afore mentioned factors. Also, Oxy ANYTHING will show in urine up to 10 DAYS after use due to the fact that your liver metabolizes it into morphine. I KNOW THESE THINGS FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. PLEASE don’t give such horribly incorrect information to people relying on the accuracy of the information on your site!!!

“Marijuana, Nicotine, Hydrocodone and Opiates: Will not test positive in any test.”

WRONG!!! These will ALL show in ALL tests. For Saliva Tests: Marijuana- up to 72 hours from last use; Nicotine- 12 hours from last use; Hydrocodone- 12-36 hours from last use; Oxy -codone/morphone- 12-72 hours from last use.
ALSO, ANY oxy- be it -codone, morphone, etc.- WILL SHOW IN URINE FOR AT LEAST 10 DAYS after last use as the liver metabolizes it into morphine.
I know all of this from personal experience.
